THESE two pictures show a view from tower blocks in Waterloo and Seaforth.
The snaps were taken and handed to Memories by a former Crosby resident and keen photographer.
The first shows a view of Waterloo from the tower block in Bath Street, in around 1967.
The second captures a view of Seaforth from Kings Court flats in 1977.
A RECENT feature on Rolyat School brought back memories for one of our readers.
Former pupil Gerald Massey recalled the annual sports day at the school in the mid to late 1930s.
His results list shows he was the winner in the “bunny jump.
Mr Massey said: “I was at the school from 1935 to 1940. I wonder how many others are still around Crosby now.
“It brought back happy memories to see the old school.
He also has this picture of pupils in 1936-37.

DID you guess which roads were featured in Thursday's picture quiz?
Picture one was Bridge Road, Brighton-le-Sands, taken in 1967, and picture two was Liverpool Road, with the George pub clearly in the centre of the photo, taken in 1959.
Well done to everyone who got both of them!
AFTER we published an old photo of Hall Road station, in Blundellsands, one Memories reader provided some details about its history.
John Lloyd, from Childwall, writes: “The picture of Hall Road railway station reminded me of the days when the carriage shed and sidings were still in regular daily use.
“General train maintenance and cleaning was carried out during the daytime and often as many as eight six-car trains would be present during the day.
“Sadly these facilities have, in the main, now been transferred to Birkenhead North and Kirkdale.
“It is also worth noting that Hall Road station was the scene of a terrible rail accident on July 27, 1905.
“Twenty people were killed and many others injured when a Southport-bound express struck an empty train.
“At this time electric trains on the line were comparatively new, having been introduced little more than a year earlier.
“Also of interest is how Hall Road station came into being. In the early 1870s, when the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company operated the line, a Mr Joseph Gardner, timber merchant, lived in a house by the railway but some 15 minutes walk from the nearest station, which was Blundellsands and Crosby.
“Mr Gardner felt that a station much closer to his home should be built. He therefore wrote to the railway company with his suggestion.
“The railway company refused, saying it was not prepared to build a station just for use by one customer.
“They did go on, however, to suggest that if a further five houses, close to Mr Gardner’s, were to be built, the request might be considered.
“What did Mr Gardner do next?
“Yes, you’ve guessed it. He had the five houses built, informed the railway company of what he had done and in 1874 Hall Road station duly opened.
HERE'S another chance to show off your knowledge of the area, with these snaps taken by a former Crosby resident and keen photographer.
There are no prizes but if you do want to test your skill against other readers (or just show off your knowledge of the area!) post your answers there.
You don’t need to log in or use a password and you don’t even need to use your real name. You just need an email address, which will not be published.
Once again, we’ll publish the answers on the website on Tuesday morning and in next week’s Crosby Herald.
